The CodeBeamer Project - Experiences with integrating a Collaborative Development Platform into Eclipse

Code-beamer provides eclipse with team collaboration features such as Task and Bug management inside the eclipse platform. From the plug-in eclipse developers can share Tasks, Bugs and Change Requests in a distributed development environment. The plugin provides project managers with an eclipse view or a web interface to coordinate and execute development tasks. Both developers and project managers have real-time visibility on the project's status.

Other features such as document sharing, a discussion forum and project management are currently accessible through a web interface and are planned as an eclipse view. Code-beamer is integrated with both MySQL / Apache and IBM DB2/Websphere.

Eclipse as platform for state-of-the-art Modeling Tool

TogetherSoft Corp. is introducing a new line of its state-of-the-art modeling tool Together WebSphere Edition (Together WSE) that makes use of Eclipse technology and integrates best practices of TogetherControlCenter.

  • Modular (plugin-based) product, helping to extend functionality without rebuilding complete product, simplifying further version delivery and bug-fixing patches as well as broader range of user-implemented extensions and customizations.
  • Load-on-demand class-loading feature of Eclipse allows to keep memory and CPU consumption low even in very big projects environment
  • Extensibility mechanisms of Eclipse allow TogetherSoft to implement powerful and extensible tool that features modeling, refactoring, QA, documentation generation, XMI support and much more.

Marco Litto - Mind8 GmbH

Eclipse as a Platform for Model Driven Engineering

A new modelling technique will be presented that supports reuse oriented engineering processes of builders of manufacturing systems. The integration of this approach into Eclipse will be demonstrated. Finally experience with plugin development of a database application will be given.

Adrian Colyer - IBM UK

Aspect Oriented Software Development in Eclipse [presentation in greyscale]

Adrian will discuss experiences building two plugins for eclipse: the AspectJ Development Tools (AJDT) plugin (http://www.eclipse.org/ajdt), and more recently a plugin supporting Hyper/J development. The talk will discuss the amount of effort required to produce a good plugin, lessons we have learnt along the way, and if time permits a short demonstration. The full source code of the AJDT plugin is available on eclipse.org for those interested in seeing how we did it in more detail!

Naci Dai - Eteration / ObjectLearn

The Lomboz Experiment

I will present the ObjectLearn Lomboz, a J2EE plugin for eclipse. Lomboz plugin is a group of extensions for the Eclipse JDT and includes feaatures such as launchers for popular application servers, scripted deployment for web and EJB modules, JSP syntax checking, JSP editors and code assist, XDoclet integration for EJB development and a few GUI bells & whistles for managing a J2EE project. In addition to a demonstration of the plugin, I will talk about our journey developing the plugin.

Camp Eclipse is jointly organized by the Java User Group Stuttgart and the Java User Group Switzerland and kindly supported by OTI.
